Middle Earth

Links to websites devoted to J. R. R. Tolkein's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit (or There and Back Again), The Silmarillion, and everything else related to Middle Earth, including Peter Jackson's movies.

The Thain's Book
An encyclopedia of the people, places, creatures, things, and events in The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and other writings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Entries include descriptions, histories, important dates, genealogies, etymologies, illustrations, sources and cross-references. Includes The Chronology of Middle-earth and Numenor, a timeline of events in the Second, Third, and Fourth Ages including a day-by-day breakdown of events during the War of the Ring.
The Encyclopedia of Arda
A tribute to and a celebration of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The site is intended to evolve into an illustrated hypertext encyclopedia of Tolkien's realms and peoples. This lies a long way in the future, though; if the regions of Eš are vast beyond the thought of Elves and Men, so too are the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Lord of the Rings Fanatics Site
A site for and by Tolkien Fanatics. “Feel free to enjoy all the fantastic Lord of the Rings material we have gathered on this site and share in the passion for Middle-Earth.”
Map of Middle Earth
Version 7 by Thierry JUNGELS, August 2004. French and German versions also available (here). “It is considered as the [map] who contains most information on a single ‘sheet’. I hope that this version will satisfy you and it is a real pleasure to share it with all the fans! … the result of my work … several months of researches, hundreds of working hours.”
